Utah Sheep Hunting

TO hunts Desert bighorn sheep primarily in the San Juan South and San Juan Lockhart units. If you do draw this tag it will likely be a once in a lifetime hunt. This hunt takes place in October and November in the most rugged and remote country in the west, and is not for the faint of heart. It is a physically and emotionally demanding hunt that requires extreme preparation. Most of this hunt will be spent hiking long distances to vantages and spending the majority of the daylight hours behind optics, good gear and optics are critical and as many sets of eyes looking, as resources will allow, will dramatically increase your odds.

Utah’s hunting regulations lump all Rocky Mountain and California Bighorn units under one classification of Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep for application and bonus point purposes. No matter the species, we enjoy the challenges and effort it requires to find the best rams available for our hunters. We are also licensed to guide in Nevada and keep an eye on some of the better units there for big rams.

Our Mountain Goat hunts are conducted on all of the Wasatch Mountains sub-units as well as the High Uintas West and Central units. All Mountain goat hunts are extremely strenuous and will require some steep mountain hiking. To insure the best possibility of success, hunters are encouraged to get into the best shape possible before coming to camp.

Elite outfitters can guide you to your trophy Bighorn we are the exclusive outfitter for the Bare Top portion of the Three Corners unit. This area is prime hunting ground for Bighorn Sheep so you will have a chance at a true trophy sheep!

Utah has a small number of Mt Goat units. The Beaver unit being the best! Growing up on the Beaver unit gives me an advantage over most guides. I know the unit in and out. If you are hunting Mt Goat on the Beaver, then Gone Hunting should be your Outfitter!

Once In A Lifetime Utah Desert Bighorn Sheep Hunts & Once In A Lifetime Utah Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Hunts

Desert Bighorn Sheep are on a once-in-a-lifetime draw basis. They have not been available to nonresidents this year. There were only 3 resident tags. Applications must be made in January. The hunt is generally September through November.

We hunt all of the Desert Bighorn units in Utah: South San Rafael, North San Rafael, Dirty Devil, Zion, San Juan South, San Juan Lockhart, Pine Valley, Virgin River, Lasal Potash, Kaiparowitz Escalante, Kaiparowitz West, Kaiparowitz East and the Henry Mountains. Many of these Desert Sheep units are located in the area where my Pioneer ancessors settled and family have run cattle for over 6 generations. Some of our Desert Sheep units are relatively easy and very accessible with ATV’s. A few of the units are very remote and can be physically demanding.
